Freedom or Safety

Over the years, our government has ensured us the right to privacy and freedom through the passage of amendments and civil rights acts; however, when the American society is threaten, our safety becomes the most important thing we need to protect.

I would not be willing to give up privacy and freedom for the sake of safety because no matter how much we try to be safe, there is always a chance that something may happen to us. The world we live in is not perfect, we are not immortal, we are simply human beings. Anything can happen to us in a single second, in a minute, or in a day. Giving up my privacy is already a step closer to the danger that may come. How can I be sure that my personal information would not be used against me? If I have no freedom, what kind of life would I be living?

We can all put every effort we have to be safe, but that doesn't promise or guarantee us anything. As Benjamin Franklin stated, "we are losing our liberty and security when we decide to give up our privacy and freedom."
